Swim Lessons!

I signed Gage up for his first "solo" swimming lessons this spring. We are already in Session 2, and I just signed him up for the next two sessions. They are M/W mornings for 3 weeks, and they are very, very inexpensive at our local fitness center, since we pay a monthly membership there. The instructors have been AWESOME and really focus on 1 on 1 attention with each of this kids, with only 5-6 kids per session. Gage is having a BLAST, and even has gotten scolded for being in the water when he's supposed to be sitting on the side, waiting his turn! He loves to go under, blow bubbles, and swim with the "noodle". He's really doing a great job!

Here he is with his buddy Nathan. We have been signing the kids up together, along with another little friend, Trent....the boys get rather wild together, but they like being in class with one another!

For the last class, his instructor, Melissa, had all of the kids sit on the sidelines to perform a "showcase" for us parents. Each child was able to pick a "skill" that they wanted to perform for the parents. Gage picked "putting his face under the water". See below!

(Side note: The two boys sitting there side by side are fraternal twins! They were #4 and #5 in a family that already had 3 boys when they were born! It's been kind of nice to chat with the mom that I feel I will be able to relate to someday. The boys are calm as ever....totally opposite of my own son, however!)

Here is Gage swimming alone with the noodle. He likes to go in the deep end when we are swimming as a family. He also likes to jump off the side into the deep water and land on the noodle!

Ta da! Melissa wrote on his "report card" at the end of the sessions that Gage can float by himself for 3 whole seconds! Way to go, Gage!
