Second dumb post of the day (hell, I'm on a roll!)
A word of advice to all parents out there. Please don't give your 18-month-old BRAN. Like an "all bran" muffin from Trader Joe's.
I will not elaborate anymore. Just don't do it.
It may be some comfort to know that these toddlers don't really want to drive us crazy, they just want to understand how we work.

The Case of the Sock Thief
Dumb post, maybe, but I am FRUSTRATED!
I know this is a long-time joke, but I seriously think that my washer and/or dryer EATS our socks! I know that our dog Jazz has a history of eating them, so it is definitely a possibility that he is the culprit, but over the course of the last few weeks, I have FOUR socks that are all missing their match. 3 of them are Gage's, and one is mine.
Could they be in folded sheets? Maybe the pant leg of a pair of Tim's sweatpants? In the dryer vent??
ARGH!

La La La La....Elmo's World!
Tim & I took Gage to his first "concert". Lucky duck. I think I was 22 before I went to see my first concert (the Wallflowers, ha!)
(Sorry, this post isn't about me. Back to Gage).
We got tickets through the mom's group I am a part of, and Tim took some time off of work to go along with us. Gage did remarkably well for his age, current attention span and energy level. I have to say the highlight for us parents was watching the HUGE bouquet of Elmo balloons come out at intermission time, observing all the parents pay around $8 each for them, and then watch as one by one they were let go and slowly floated to the ceiling of the Target Center. I mean, it wasn't REALLY funny, but we laughed. We laughed HARD! Cold hearted, ain't we?
But seriously, the show was really good. It was pretty funny as it was ME who knew all the names of the characters (Abby Cadabby, Mr. Noodle, Grudgetta) and I was singing along to their songs. I always did want to take Maria's job when she retired. She's still on there, ya know? And Gordon, and Olivia, and Luis....
Oh, that's right. Gage's post. Back to Gage.
Gage also got his first taste of popcorn. He liked it so much and even shared half his bag with me!
GAME NIGHT (and then some)
For the past couple of years, a group of our friends have been getting together shortly after the holidays to celebrate friendship and exchange white elephant gifts. We have SO MUCH FUN! Man, it's crazy. Too many things are said and shared that I just can't quite share with the rest of you. Sorry. But just know that we have fun. And usually someone gets a little loopy (me??) and does something kinda crazy. I think I was good this year though.
If nothing else, seeing Jeff where the "Pheasants Forever" orange hunting hat all night was all we needed to remind us why we do this every year!
Better Late than Never
Well, here are some delayed pics from New Year's Eve and Day. My cousin Christopher and his wife Shelly and 9 month old Jonathon came for the evening and partied w/ us and our neighbors. We had a great time. The boys had a good time together before bedtime and then bright and early the next morning, while we were all nursing our headaches. Man, isn't life different with kids?

A Few of My Favorite Things
I'm not Oprah, so don't expect any free handouts at the end of this post! However, I find myself talking an awful lot about random things that I am currently into: Magazines, household appliances, books, television shows. While doing my occasional blogsite visits, I have found that other people sometimes create posts on the things that they consider their current "favorites" and I thought it would be a good idea to share mine with you.
A few of my favorites, as of January 14, 2008:
1. My Dyson vacuum cleaner. Love it. Love it, love it, love (picture Molly Shannon sitting on the couch of a Saturday Night Live episode kicking her heels in the air) it. My friend Stacy offered to lend me her Dyson about a year ago and I was absolutely SHOCKED to find the amount of crud that her vacuum sucked out of my already-vacuumed-with-my-Kirby carpet. Within a week, we bought our own and I have since borrowed it out to another friend (Suzi) who has also ran to a store to buy HER own. They are amazing. Simply amazing and highly recommended by everyone that has ever owned one. Expensive, yes, but amazing. Don't buy it off the direct site as we did NOT pay that much...
look for deals at local stores!
2. The book Tim and I are currently reading together: The Five Love Languages.
I am not a marriage therapist, so I am not even going to begin to try and explain this book here. If interested, check it out. We are loving it and finding it very interesting.
3. The class that I am taking at my local YMCA, "BodyPump". I like it so much, I may look into being an instructor for it! Don't laugh. I'm serious! If you are a member of a Y, and they offer the class, I'd highly recommend it. After the first class, you will have a hard time walking the next day, but it gets better, I promise. And the music ROCKS. There is this new mix of Boston's "More Than a Feeling". I think I am going to download it right now.
4. The TV show on Sunday nights on ABC: Brothers and Sisters. God I love this show! It is SOOOOO good. I have always loved Sally Field, and have never liked Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal) however she has really grown on me. It's a great show, especially if you can DVR it and shoot through all the stupid commercials.
5. Johnson's Bedtime Lotion. Ah, it smells so wonderfully delicious you just may want to eat your baby (or kid, or husband? Or, SELF??) up after this is put on! Seriously. I will forever have a memory of my little boy running around in his footed jammies, grabbing for his bedtime books and snuggling on my lap when I EVER inhale this smell. For the rest of my life. Love it!
I thought I would come up with many more, and I'm sure I could rave about my current face lotion or shoes that I found at DSW. Or maybe I could tell you all about the specific name brand of the cherry tomatoes we have been buying lately. But you probably don't even care about the 5 favorites I even listed, much less caring to hear about my favorite type of bra.
If you have a blog, I challenge you to share some of YOUR favorites. I promise I'll check 'em all out!

Happy New Year!
I have been working really hard on getting all of my pictures uploaded and onto this site, but it just doesn't happen as quickly as I'd like. I'm just getting Christmas Day pictures up now and it's well over a week ago that it happened.
I am still waiting for my Shutterfly delivery of our New Year's cards. For those of you who visit this site regularly, I already put a couple of pictures up on this site that you will be getting in the mail. They are my favorites.
We ended up staying in at our own place this year for New Year's. We got invited to a couple of different parties, but didn't want to be out on the roads (to OR from), and really just wanted to stay in. My cousin Christopher and his wife Shelly liked our idea too, so they came over and we had a nice dinner and played some games. Our neighbors Jeff & Fran came over as well and we all had a nice time. It was nice getting up the next morning and just lounging around in our pj's for awhile. I will get some pictures of the evening up soon.
This weekend I am going out of town scrapbooking again. I am very excited as I tend to get sooo much done when I go on these retreats. Tim and I just booked a trip to Cancun with Katie and Johnny for the first week of February. We have been talking for a long time that we wanted to do this, so now we are going to go!
My lia sophia jewelry business has been going amazingly well. I did very well in November and December, and although I am having some problems getting bookings for January I have quite a few lined up for February and March already. Exciting!
I also have several girls' nights and friends' nights planned out for January and February. These are so important to me and I look so forward to them.
I hope all of you had safe and wonderful holidays and I promise to be better at keeping up this site in 2008!
